Over the course of a 26-year career spanning Emmy Award-winning television, cult genre cinema, and Cannes-calibre historical horror, Casey Walker has consistently done things his own way—and consistently come out ahead. His filmography is defined not by the path of least resistance, but by the conviction that the stories worth telling are the ones worth fighting for.
Walker’s introduction to the industry came through the legendary Frank Oz, for whom he worked on the Robert De Niro thriller The Score. He was directing months later on the Emmy Award-winning children’s series Zoboomafoo. His short film The Morning After screened at more than 40 international festivals and earned multiple comedy awards. His early viral commercial work accumulated tens of millions of views.
In a move that would prove prescient, Walker became what the industry now recognises as the grandfather of crowdfunding. He created MyMillionDollarMovie.com, the first online platform built to fund a feature film, before being retained to consult on the architecture of both Kickstarter and Indiegogo.
That campaign produced his debut feature, A Little Bit Zombie— a zombie romantic comedy that arrived before the subgenre existed as a commercial category. It sold in more than 50 territories, opened midnight sections at festivals worldwide, and won 15 awards. Walker had invented a lane and driven straight through it.
What followed was a pivot toward producing. His credits include the practical-effects horror phenomenon The Void and Adam MacDonald’s supernatural thriller Pyewacket. He also served as the sole Executive Producer on In a Violent Nature—Chris Nash’s formally radical 2024 horror feature, which became one of the year’s most discussed films and a genuine cult phenomenon.
Through this same period, he continued directing, helming episodes of Hulu’s The Hardy Boys and Overlord and the Underwoods.
For fifteen years, Walker refused to abandon Ithaqua. A $10-million historical horror film set in the winter of 1821 at the fur trade outpost that now bears the name Thunder Bay—the city where he grew up—the film is shot in English, French, and Ojibwe/Cree, produced in active partnership with Fort William First Nation on their ancestral lands, and is the first title to relaunch the legendary Hammer Films label under Executive Producer John Gore, the multi-award-winning Broadway producer and billionaire.
While awaiting Ithaqua’s post-production, Walker directed Home Bodies, produced alongside Karen Harnish (Sleeping Giant, Infinity Pool). The film will roll out across the festival circuit this fall, with several premieres already confirmed.
Walker resides in the Muskoka region of Ontario with his wife, two dogs, and an impressive collection of broken motorcycles.
