ALEX MONTILLA

Alex Montilla has been making movies since high school. When he and his friends took over the morning announcements, they saw an opportunity to produce short films for a captive audience—an audience that literally had to watch as the entire school was held hostage by their silliness.

Out of necessity, Alex learned the fundamentals of filmmaking: writing, directing, acting, editing, scoring, special effects, and everything in between. He was the Robert Rodriguez of morning announcements.

Those DIY skills came in handy when he went on to study at the University of Miami’s film school.

After moving to Los Angeles, Alex continued honing his craft in a range of roles—from working in the editing rooms of studio films such as Hot Tub Time Machine and The Muppets, to working on the sets of Hop and The Hangover Part III, and producing for ESPN.

Throughout it all, he has continued writing, directing, and editing his own short films, including his horror-comedy OverKill, which took home multiple awards at festivals around the world.
