SEAN HARRIS OLIVER

Sean Harris Oliver is a Canadian playwright, theatre director, screenwriter, and film producer whose work has appeared throughout Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom, Europe, and Central and South America. He most recently wrote and produced the award-winning independent horror feature Hunting Matthew Nichols, which received seven Leo Award nominations, and was the winner of FilmQuest’s 2024 Best Found Footage Feature Film. Sean helped spearhead and develop an innovative self-distribution theatrical model, releasing Hunting Matthew Nichols on more than 900 screens across North America. The film went on to earn more than $700,000 at the domestic box office, and was subsequently acquired by IFC/Shudder and Bell Media, with its streaming release set for Halloween 2026 across Canada, the United States, Ireland, the United Kingdom, New Zealand, and Australia.

Sean’s work as a playwright includes professional productions of Bright Blue Future, Redpatch, The Fighting Season, and The Soldier’s Wife. The Fighting Season was a finalist for the 2019 Governor General’s Literary Award for Drama. In addition to developing original film and television projects, Sean works extensively as a professional script analyst, providing story-development notes for filmmakers, production companies, and screenwriting organizations across North America. His passion lies in developing new work and collaborating with writers, directors, and production companies to bring original stories to the screen and stage. Sean holds a Bachelor of Science from Queen’s University and is a graduate of Studio 58’s professional acting conservatory program at Langara College.
