The Obverse of each coin bears the Ian Rank-Bradley effigy of Queen Elizabeth II and the coat of arms of Kiribati. According to Downies, a special technique was used for high-relief digital printing to enhance the skulls surrounding each coin. The coins are packaged in a custom-made coffin shaped box.
